The 4 C's

To be an effective leader within our Math community, teachers need to adhere to the 4 C's.............Courage, Creativity, Clarity and Compassion.

An effective leader needs to be courageous.  That is not always an easy feat to undertake.  As a leader in mathematics, we need the courage to put ourselves out their and meet our challenges head on.  In doing so, we will acquire strength, determination and perseverance in our times of uncertainty.

An effective leader needs to be creative in their pursuits to reach their target audience.  Do we use numbers, pictures, words, technology, drama, music, art or even YouTube videos?

An effective leader needs clarity within their instructions, demonstrations, and collaborative learning inquiries.  A true leader will promote a healthy growth mindset for all.

An effective leader needs to be compassionate.  Curriculum changes, new teaching strategies, technological advances, old math versus new math..........where will it go next?
An effective math leader, in showing compassion, will create the level of transparency that all leaders must possess.  We must place ourselves in others "shoes" and "walk that mile" as this is what makes us truly great.

A leader must set clear goals, promote collaborative learning communities, use data informed decisions, engage in courageous conversations and align resources with priorities.
